On Tuesday 13th February, we ventured to Whipsnade Zoo - where we spent the day consolidating our knowledge of biomes and adaptations. On arrival, the children got the opportunity to see a number of different animals in their enclosures: penguins, giraffes, chimpanzees, wolverines and more.
This was followed by a really engaging and informative workshop led by the staff at Whipsnade which orientated around animal's adaptations and the impact that can have on species. The children got to handle replica animal skeletons - allowing them to see the adaptations first hand. After lunch, we took cover from the persistent rain as we visited the aquarium and the butterfly house.
With a brisk walk, we managed to to visit the remaining animals before visiting the souvenir shop.
It was a fantastic day all round!Â
