Music
INTENT
The children at Barnack School demonstrate a solid and broad appreciation of major world religions and an informed and in-depth understanding of Christianity and faith. This is allied to our work in school on our school’s Christian Values and broader British values which we support through worship, assembly, PSHE and the way which we interact with each other in school.
CURRICULUM OBJECTIVES
We aim to ensure children:
-
perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of periods, genres, styles and traditions;
-
learn to sing and use their voices to create and compose music;
-
have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument;
-
understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated.
IMPLEMENTATION
We use a range of resources including ‘Charanga’ and ‘Music Express’ and sing up resources to deliver our music curriculum. We ensure that existing units are aligned to the new curriculum.
IMPACT
The children learn the skills and knowledge of a range of musical instruments, musical terms, styles and composition, as well as an understanding of the role and cultural significance of music and performance.
