Year 5/6 SOKE Hockey Tournament

On Thursday 21st October we traveled to Arthur Mellows Village College to take part in the Year 5/6 SOKE Hockey Tournament. Initially, we took part in a warm up and a coaching session before getting into the competitive matches. There were 10 teams in total, which were split into two groups.

In our first group game we managed to win 3-0 against Glinton before narrowly losing 4-2 to Northborough. The next two games saw us compete against two teams from John Clare Primary School. In the first we lost 4-1, before triumphing 5-0 in a sensational performance to finish our group in 3rd place.

This saw us progress through to the plate competition where we competed against Fulbridge Academy in the semi final. The children played brilliantly and managed to win 5-2, therefore progressing on to the final. In this game we faced Gunthorpe Primary School hoping to come home with the title.

The game was very tight to begin, with both teams showing some excellent defensive work. We then took the lead through a great team goal before striking again to double our lead. The game finished with us clinching a third goal to make it 3-0 and resulting in us being the Plate Champions.

All of the children worked brilliantly and represented the school with flawless sportsmanship and a true determination to succeed. We are all really proud of them!
